🔥 ChatGPT Tips Tuesday #21: Let's do a practise job interview

Given ChartGPT's amazing generative capacity, it can also help you with practising for your next job interview

💡 ChatGPT Tips for the day

Based on popular demand from last week’s poll, we will explore using ChatGPT to generate questions for your next job interview this week.

Since ChatGPT is pretty good with summarisation and understanding text, one of the good use cases with ChatGPT would be to get it to generate interview questions so that you can do some practice before the big day.

To do it, it is actually quite simple. The following is the prompt I have used:

Act as the hiring manager, generate 5 interview questions that you would love to ask based on the following job description. Please ensure the questions are specific and relevant to the job description provided.

Job description:
[Paste the job description you see online]

The key thing is to include the job description and ensure the questions are closely related to the job description so that the questions you received can be specific to the role.

Here is the example, when I test with this job description for a product designer role: https://www.seek.com.au/job/69200707. The following is what I get from ChatGPT:

This is actually quite specific and I like how it has referenced the specific part of the job description to create the questions.

In addition, to help you with the practice, you can also use the following prompt to see what a good response could be like.

Please provide a good quality response to the questions mentioned above.

With the above prompt, the following is what I can see:

Obviously, ChatGPT is hallucinating here to generate the response. Nonetheless, it provides a good structure in terms of how the answer should be formulated.

In summary, using the suggested prompt, you can get some great practice job interview questions based on the job description. In addition, you can also get some examples of high-quality answers so that you can ace your next job interview! I hope you find it useful.
