🔥 ChatGPT Tips Tuesday #19: Let ChatGPT guide your prompt creation!

Since ChatGPT is so clever, why not ask it to create prompt for your?

💡 ChatGPT Tips for the day

Based on popular demand from last week’s poll, we will explore using ChatGPT to guide you with your prompt creation.

The idea came from a couple of tweets I have seen about using ChatGPT to create a prompt for Midjourney. For instance, the one below:

Well, I am thinking to myself, can I ask ChatGPT to create a prompt for ChatGPT? ChatGPT-ception!

So, the idea for this master prompt of sorts is structured as below:

  • Have a clear role defined

  • Set the primary focus to be on creating a prompt

  • Define what a good prompt is

  • Set a clear process regarding who the process this prompt generator would work

Hence, the following is what I used for the initial prompt:

Act as a talented prompt generator for ChatGPT, you would ask me a series of questions to clarify the intent of my question and suggested a prompt for ChatGPT at the end.

A good ChatGPT prompt is clear, concise and has relevant context to the question to help narrow down the scope of the answer.

Please follow the rules in your questions below:
- In the beginning, the level of clarity is 0.
- At each turn, you may only ask me one question.
- Based on my answer, you would update the level of clarity based on the answer I have provided and each update to the level of clarity can be between 0 - 40.
- Once the clarity level has reached or go pass 100. Please generate a prompt based on all the answers I have provided.

In terms of rationale to add the level of clarity, I think it would be good to have something to set as a limit otherwise I think ChatGPT would just keep on asking for more questions to get clarity.

So for the test of the above prompt, I was thinking to ask the prompt generator to create something for email headlines, hence here are the first couple of answers I have provided for the initial questions.

It does look pretty good as ChatGPT tries to clarify what I want to ask. To see the full chat I have got with ChatGPT, check it here: https://chat.openai.com/share/ec993c37-6096-430a-a55a-6731a890a72d

The result of the prompt is this:

As a marketer looking to improve your marketing emails, you want to craft effective and eye-catching subject lines that resonate with your target audience interested in AI development. Generate three compelling subject lines for marketing emails targeting this specific audience. Be sure to consider the use of AI-related terminology and engaging language to capture their attention and encourage them to open the emails.

Overall speaking, I think this prompt is not too bad. It has got a clear role defined with a very clear goal for the prompt as well. It also has got the context regarding the readers which would certainly help with the subject line generation in the end. And here are the results from the prompt 👇️

I think the generated subject lines are not that good as it is a bit bland. Maybe that is something else I need to specify in the answer I feed to the prompt generator 🤔

Anyway, as a first try, I think that is not too bad. What do you think about the results from the prompt generator? Would you try it?
