Based on popular demand, we will explore asking ChatGPT to respond in certain styles.

This is different to the previous post where I cover how you can get tables or bullet points from ChatGPT. The styles I am going to cover today are mainly about the style of the language of the responses.

So, what are the common styles of the language? Based on my Google search, the following four types seems good enough. I hope ChatGPT could actually cover all of them as well.

The four language styles

To use ask ChatGPT to do these language styles, it is quite easy. You just need to be very explicit in terms of the style within your prompt.

For today’s issue, I have asked ChatGPT to explain AI in these four styles.

Slang style

Colloquial style

Informal style

Formal style

Overall speaking, I think with a simple addition to the prompt, you can actually get very good results that are customised to the style.

The slang style reminds me of a rap song, so I have to give it a try to see if we can get a rap song as well. I must say I am quite impressed by this and the words rhyme quite well. Check it out 👇️ 

Language style of an author

Other than going with a general language style, you can also specify the particular style of an author.

Ernest Hemmingway

William Shakespeare

Snoop Dogg

I don’t think I am a good judge to say if the language is mimicking the said author quite well or not, but the difference is quite clear. I think for fun, this would be a neat trick to try.
