🖌️ AI Art Tips Thursday #20: Let's get creative with remixing!

Remixing allows you to tweak your prompt when you trying to get a variation.

💡 AI Art Tips for the Day

By popular demand, I am going to explore the remix mode in Midjourney.

As usual, here is the official doc from Midjourney about this mode: https://docs.midjourney.com/docs/remix. In short, my understanding of Remix is that it allows you to tweak the prompt when you create a variation from the original prompt you have.

To use the remix mode, you would need to set up your setting for it. There are two ways to achieve that.

Your first option is to set it using /prefer remix. If you set it up this way, a system message would show whether you have set up the Remix mode or not:

Your second option is to do so via the /settings. You just have to make sure to enable the Remix mode button in the settings message.

Once you have enabled Remix mode, we can do some magic with this.

The first example is quite a simple way, which is just to get the art generation and use the variation button, i.e. the repeat button 🔁

When you click on that, you would be provided with a chance to change the prompt and that is where we can introduce changes to the output.

I have tried to change the material of the house in three different ways and let’s see what the results look like:

Overall speaking, I feel the outputs are just like using different prompts for midjourney. I was hoping to maintain the same layout of the art generation from the original, which does not seem to be the case based on the results.

Now, the second example is a bit more interesting. Do you remember that I mentioned that we can’t put Elon and Zuck in one photo? Well, with Remix and Pan, this is now doable 👇️

So how did I get to that?

I started with getting a base image for Elon.

a photo of Elon Musk standing on a bridge --ar 1:2

From there, I just need to use the pan right option and added the following bit in the Remix dialogue window.

a photo of Mark Zuckerberg standing on a bridge with Elon Musk

And Voilà, Let’s take a look at the results:

Now that is some real magic and I am quite excited this is doable.

By the way, just to test that limitation of not being able to have both Zuck and Elon in one picture using one prompt, here is what I got from prompting that in one prompt

Prompt: a photo of Mark Zuckerberg standing on a bridge with Elon Musk

Well, I will stick with my Pan and Remix combo if you ask me.

So, other than adding more people into the picture, you can also consider changing the surrounding of the people from this combo. The sky is the limit and just give it a try.

I wish I can live in this house and just devour all the candy floss there 😋

Prompt: a house made of candy floss --v 5.2

That is it for the day!

Until I see you next time, stay awesome my friend!
