7th issue: Is that Drake for real? 🎤

Hype around AI-generated music, another unicorn raised due to AI and more

🌯 Wrap for the week

A close look at all the main headlines in AI

AI-generated music reaches a high note

Have you heard that song called Heart on My Sleeve yet?

If yes, did you think that was from Drake and The Weekend in the first place?

If not, here it is 👇️

As the use of AI in the music industry increases, artists and industry experts have raised concerns about the lack of consent in using their voices and music for AI-generated content.

In response, Spotify CEO Daniel Ek has expressed cautious optimism for the fast-developing technology, saying it should lead to more music, which is great culturally. However, some are worried that it might infringe on artists’ rights and raise ethical questions about consent and labour.

In addition, major labels like Universal Music Group have spoken out in opposition to the use of generative AI, stating a moral and commercial responsibility to prevent the unauthorized use of their music and protect artists' rights. As AI-generated music continues to develop, industry experts suggest that the important questions about ethics and consent need to be addressed.

Although some people are opposing AI in the music industry, Grimes has publicly shared that she would like to give out 50% royalties on any AI-generated song that has her voice. Kudos to Grimes!

Will there be more collab with AI? I guess so. At least, I think you might hear the voice of Grimes far more often.

Just in case you want to get involved in this AI music trend, you should check this news from Vice to find out where are those people creating AI music hanging out.

Another unicorn rose thanks to AI

Replit, an integrated development environment (IDE) startup, has raised $97.4m in a series B funding round extension led by Andreessen Horowitz. This funding round valued Replit at a $1.16 billion post-money valuation, i.e. unicorn status 🦄.

Replit offers an online, collaborative IDE and has developed Ghostwriter, a code-generating AI-powered tool similar to GitHub's Copilot. It suggests code and offers explanations based on what users are typing and other contexts from their accounts.

Replit plans to use the funds to expand cloud services, develop AI and improve the product experience.

Let’s see if there would be more unicorns popping up next 🦄🦄🦄

Other top AI headlines for the week

It feels like Alphabet, Google’s parent company, is competing with Microsoft using full force now. I am keen to see what they are going to bring next. Something better than Bard please 🙏

Hell for OpenAI?! 🤯 I hope that is not coming.

Let’s just look at the bright side and ignore the notice-from-hell for a minute. I think you can get a lot of good inspiration from the ways people are using AI now.

🎬️ Guess that movie

Adding a bit of fun to your weekend reading, let’s guess the famous movie from the 10-emoji description created by ChatGPT:

🚢💑🎨🍽️💃❄️⛴️💥💧🚣‍♂️

If it is a bit hard to figure out, you can find the answer with some explanation from ChatGPT at the end of this newsletter.

🧰 Toolbox

Check out this week’s tools and resources that give you more superpowers with prompt crafting!

1. 📺️ ChatGPT Prompt Engineering for Developers
Although this is targeted at developers, I think there is still a lot a non-tech person, like myself, can learn from this great resource. Also, it is free to take as well, so I know where I can spend an hour productively this weekend.

2. 🔧 HuggingChat
Well, HuggingFace joins the Chat race as well. Although it is using the same model as Open Assistant, so it might not be performing as well as GPT4. However, you would never know what things would be like if you give it some time.

3. 🔧 Musicfy
If the top headline from this week strikes a chord with you, you might want to try this tool out and start your “music production career”.

💕 Share the love and get some cool avatars!

I hope you have been enjoying the Prompt Craftsman newsletter so far. If you do, why not share your love of the newsletter with your friends as well? 😉 If you are sharing the love, I should do something in return to share my gratitude. That is why, I have decided that I will randomly select 3 subscribers each week who have got at least 3 of his/her friends to join the newsletter that week and provide them with 3 cool avatars.

For the lucky chosen subscribers, I will create these avatars using the portrait photo(s) you give me in 3 different styles of your nominations. You can suggest styles either using some image(s) you like and/or some descriptive text. If you have heard Lensa before, it is the same concept, but free of charge with the Prompt Craftsman! 😄

I won’t promise to get the same level of detail, but the end result could be similar to the ones below.

Alright, if you are in, here is your link to share your love of the Prompt Craftsman with your friends. You are the best! ❤️

🎬️ Guess that movie - answer

The answer is "The Titanic" 🥳
