Reddit's ask to get paid, DishBrain and more

🌯 Wrap for the week
A close look at all the main headlines in AI
Pay up, AI companies
Looks like the time for free data for AI model training is running out soon…
Social media site Reddit has announced that it will charge companies for access to its data in a new premium access offering. The move comes as companies such as OpenAI, Google and Microsoft are developing large language models using Reddit's data.
The new access point will provide third parties with additional capabilities and higher usage limits. Reddit's data API will still be accessible and open for reasonable use cases, but developers and researchers will no longer have free access.
The company is finalising costs for the new offering. Steve Huffman, CEO and co-founder of Reddit, said data from the platform is always new, making it valuable for models to give better and more relevant answers.
Following Reddit’s decision, Stack Overflow might also join this trend as well.
I guess “free lunch” is no more.

The future of AI is powered by your stem cell?
This is truly something I haven’t heard before.
Australian start-up Cortical Labs has raised $10m to develop "organoid intelligence," a system that combines synthetic biology and human neurons to create biocomputers with more advanced and energy-efficient AI than current systems.
The company uses clusters of lab-cultivated neurons from human stem cells to create a "DishBrain," which is then connected to hard silicon to form a Biological Intelligence Operating System (biOS).

Cortical Labs says it is already fulfilling orders for its technology. It has also demonstrated its technology in a scientific journal, Neuron, by getting neurons to play Pong, allowing the development and testing of drugs and therapies, as well as opening up possibilities for personalised medicine and disease detection.
Cortical's system could also be used to study dementia and test compounds using quantum computing and generative AI, it said.
By the way, don’t try to get an image from Midjourney using the prompt “DishBraind”. It might ruin your appetite 🤢

Other top AI headlines for the week
The concept from Elon does touch on a key issue from ChatGPT, i.e. the ability to provide information that is always accurate. But, would it happen? I am not sure, but I am keen to see what would take place next.
Also, this concept is not new at all:

Yokosuka becomes Japan's first city to use ChatGPT for administrative tasks from The Japan Times
Lack of human resources seems to be the main reason for this move. But anyway, finally, some government is looking at ChatGPT positively.
Also, did you know OpenAI is planning to expand and have an office in Japan?
Now, that is a good idea.
I have seen tons of AI tools that allow people to create ad content. Nonetheless, nothing beats having AI directly integrated with the ad platform!
I look forward to seeing how it works. Maybe a better and improved Bard would play an important role in this. Let us wait and see.
🎬️ Guess that movie
Just to add a bit of fun to the weekly newsletter issue, let’s guess the famous movie from the 10-emoji description created by ChatGPT:
👨⚖️🏢🤝📚🔧🚽🌧️🕳️🌊🤗
If it is a bit hard to figure out, you can find the answer with some explanation from ChatGPT at the end of this newsletter.
🧰 Toolbox
Check out this week’s tools and resources that give you more superpowers with prompt crafting!
1. 📺️ The Inside Story of ChatGPT’s Astonishing Potential | Greg Brockman | TED
I haven’t watched this yet but I have heard a lot of good words about it. In a normal presentation format from Greg, you can expect some great demonstrations of the power of ChatGPT.
2. 🔧 StableLM
Stability AI, the company behind Stable Diffusion, joins the chat experience competition as well. I have heard this model is not working as well as ChatGPT. But you never know how much better things would become if you give it some time. Give it a try and see how you feel about it.
3. 🔧 Animated drawings
If you have some little ones with you, this is a tool you should check out. This Meta AI tool allows you to bring any children’s drawing to life. See the example below:

This is the most joyful AI project I've seen in a while - instant download for all the kids and the kids-at-heart!
API is beautiful too:

I'm an avid pizza lover. Been refining prepping dough and baking pizza at home for a few years now, so when I see a pizzeria looking for AI art submissions, I got to participate. Here's what I came up with.

🖼️ Image of the week
Is this a photo or an AI-generated image? Would you accept this for a photography award?

Credit: Boris Eldagsen
Well, World Photography Organisation said yes to this image and give the “creator” an award. And now comes the twist, this image is actually created via prompting an AI art creation tool 🤯
What is more shocking is that the creator refused this award since he was just trying to see if the organisation would notice this is an AI-generated image. If you want to dig more, you can find more from Boris’s side here.
💕 Share the love and get some cool avatars!
I hope you have been enjoying the Prompt Craftsman newsletter so far. If you do, why not share your love of the newsletter with your friends as well? 😉 If you are sharing the love, I should do something in return to share my gratitude. That is why, I have decided that I will randomly select 3 subscribers each week who have got at least 3 of his/her friends to join the newsletter that week and provide them with 3 cool avatars.
For the lucky chosen subscribers, I will create these avatars using the portrait photo(s) you give me in 3 different styles of your nominations. You can suggest styles either using some image(s) you like and/or some descriptive text. If you have heard Lensa before, it is the same concept, but free of charge with the Prompt Craftsman! 😄
I won’t promise to get the same level of detail, but the end result could be similar to the ones below.

Alright, if you are in, here is your link to share your love of the Prompt Craftsman with your friends. You are the best! ❤️
