Top news for the week
All announcements from Nvidia in SIGGRAPH 2023
Nvidia just won’t stop its pacing in leading the hardware advancements for AI. Here are all the key announcements from Nvidia in SIGGRAPH 2023 this week:
NVIDIA GH200 Grace Hopper Platform: NVIDIA introduced this advanced platform that includes the groundbreaking Grace Hopper Superchip paired with the world's first HBM3e processor. This technology is designed for transformative AI and rapid computing. The platform's configurations are made to handle complex generative AI tasks, such as large language models and vector databases. It offers up to 3.5 times more memory and three times the bandwidth than its predecessor, featuring a server with 144 Arm Neoverse cores, eight petaflops of AI capability, and 282GB of the advanced HBM3e memory.
HBM3e Memory: The new memory provides a 50% speed boost compared to its HBM3 counterpart, allowing the platform to handle models 3.5 times larger with three times the memory speed.
NVIDIA AI Workbench: NVIDIA has rolled out this cohesive toolkit for developers. It aims to simplify the creation and customization of pretrained generative AI models. The AI Workbench provides access to popular repositories such as Hugging Face, GitHub, and NVIDIA NGC. This initiative simplifies the process for developers, integrating essential tools from open-source repositories and NVIDIA’s AI suite into one comprehensive toolkit. Major tech players like Dell Technologies, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, and Lenovo have endorsed the AI Workbench.
NVIDIA and Hugging Face Collaboration: NVIDIA announced its partnership with Hugging Face to promote generative AI supercomputing. This collaboration will see the launch of a "Training Cluster as a Service", leveraging the NVIDIA DGX Cloud. The partnership aims to make NVIDIA's AI computing platforms easily accessible to the expansive Hugging Face developer community.
NVIDIA AI Enterprise 4.0: NVIDIA unveiled its latest enterprise software iteration, providing resources to integrate generative AI securely. This software is certified for multiple platforms, including the new NVIDIA RTX workstations.

I guess you better mute your mic when you are typing passwords on your Zoom call. Well, talking about Zoom…
Well, this whole thing was due to some changes to the terms of services in March. It did get people freaking out a bit given it sounds like their content might be used by Zoom to do some training for AI. I am glad Zoom has stepped out and made it clear. No need to switch off your Zoom subscription.
OpenAI launches web crawling GPTBot, sparking blocking effort by website owners and creators from VentureBeat
On one side, it does sound like GPT-5 might be coming soon. However, this is not really well received by everyone. If you own your site, would you block GPTBot?
